Introducing a Unique Leek Dish
For those who typically shy away from leeks, a new recipe promises to change your mind. The “Leek Slices Baked in the Oven, Tasting Like Börek” is gaining popularity for its delightful flavor profile that even leek skeptics can appreciate.
Key Ingredients for the Bake:
The recipe calls for 350g of leeks, one to two small carrots, and one green pepper. The binding agents include three eggs, 250g of feta cheese, and half a tea cup of fine bulgur soaked in hot water. A tea cup of oil, half a cup of flour, one teaspoon of baking powder, and half a teaspoon of salt complete the base. For topping, sesame and nigella seeds are recommended.
Preparation Steps:
The process begins with soaking fine bulgur in hot water for 10-15 minutes to allow it to swell. Leeks and green pepper are finely chopped, while the carrot is grated. These vegetables are then sautĂ©ed in oil for about 10 minutes until they soften and are set aside to cool. In a separate bowl, eggs, flour, baking powder, and salt are whisked together. The cooled sautĂ©ed vegetables, feta cheese, and softened bulgur are then added to this mixture and combined thoroughly. The batter is poured into a baking dish lined with parchment paper (approximately 20×28 cm) and spread evenly. Finally, sesame and nigella seeds are sprinkled on top before baking.
Baking and Serving Instructions:
The leek slices are baked in a preheated oven at 180°C (without fan) for approximately 50 minutes. It is advised to let the dish cool to room temperature before slicing and serving. This method ensures a flavorful and satisfying result.
