New Flavor School Series Kicks Off with Bold Recipe
Six-time cookbook author Niki, through the platform rebelrecipes, has launched a new video series dubbed ‘Flavour School,’ emphasizing that “life is too short for dull, worthy, boring food.” The inaugural episode introduces a vibrant recipe: Bang Bang Tofu Flatbread, designed for big flavor and satisfying texture.
Recipe Highlights: Crispy Tofu and Spicy Sauce
The featured dish centers on air-fried tofu, which is tossed in a peanutty, spicy sauce after achieving a crispy exterior. The recipe details call for pressing and tearing 280g of firm tofu, coating it in cornflour, sesame oil, and sea salt, followed by air frying at 200°C for 12–15 minutes.
Crafting the Bang Bang Sauce and Mayo
The signature ‘bang bang sauce’ is constructed from smooth peanut butter, toasted sesame oil, sriracha, lime juice, soy sauce, and maple syrup, loosened with warm water. Once the tofu is coated, it is layered onto warmed flatbreads that have been spread with a simple sriracha mayonnaise (mayonnaise mixed with sriracha). The dish is finished with shredded lettuce, cucumber, spring onions, and sesame seeds. This recipe serves two and requires approximately 10 minutes of prep time and 12–15 minutes of cook time.
