simplyrecipes Presents Quick 4-Ingredient Gyoza Cabbage Bowls

simplyrecipes shared a straightforward recipe for Gyoza Cabbage Bowls, developed with creator @cocomorante, requiring just four main ingredients to prepare three to four servings.

The recipe calls for 3 1/2 tablespoons of vegetable oil (divided), 1 pound of frozen gyoza dumplings, 1/4 cup of water, and 1 medium head of green cabbage (cored and sliced into 1/4-inch ribbons). Flavor is added with 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Optional toppings include sliced green onions, cilantro, toasted sesame seeds, chili crisp, and/or Sriracha.

Preparing the Gyoza

To steam-fry the gyoza, heat 1 1/2 tablespoons of oil in a 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the gyoza, seam side up, and sear for about 4 minutes until lightly golden on the bottom. Next, add the water, quickly cover the skillet, and let the gyoza steam, covered, for 4 to 5 minutes until cooked through and the water has evaporated. Uncover and remove from heat.

Sautéing the Cabbage

While the gyoza steam, heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of oil in a high-sided sauté pan or deep skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced cabbage and sauté for 5 to 8 minutes until wilted and translucent but retaining some texture. Stir in the oyster sauce and soy sauce, sautéing for about one more minute until the cabbage is evenly coated.

To serve, transfer the seasoned cabbage to bowls, top with the cooked gyoza, and serve immediately with optional toppings available at the table. Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days. To reheat, microwave the cabbage for 1 minute, then add the gyoza and microwave for an additional minute until heated through.
